I think I would feel the same way as you do. I went to a gym for a while but felt so on display, I hated it. So I give you kudos for going AND for sticking with it and working through these emotions!

Last night I looked through Netflix streaming to see if there were some good stretching videos ... found a couple that look promising.

In today's class, Sean and I were the only ones there (yes, I've got him going to class, too - it works right now with his schedule since he's working nights and comes in right after work. Once he goes back to days, he'll have to do evening classes since he starts work so early). But I digress...

Since both of us have some flexibility challenges (particularly shoulders) , David spent the last 15 minutes or so going over particular exercises / stretches that we can do at home. It was great to slow down a bit and focus on that, and ... wouldn't you know, when I open my mind to suggestions (rather than getting stupidly defensive) I get a lot more out of them!

Damn, I'm just impressed you typed that much on an iPhone screen!

Yeah, I'm just whining ... I'm having one of those "Why are things that are soooo easy for other people soooo difficult for me?" moments. I'm gonna keep doing it ... might take me several months to get to a 5K, but I'll get there.

Ah, the elusive runners high!! In my experience, that bitch doesn't show uptil you start going either farther or faster (or both). I seem to either need 6 miles or running at around 9 min mile (which for me is booking it hardcore) to get thst happy feeling.

But my 2 cents, should you want 'em, is stick with it. Because there is something noble about running, no matter the speed. It's you against youi, every time. Your body is ALWAYS capable of going farther or faster than you think (especially the farther bit, in my experience the faster usually self limits through puking, still doing studies on that one).
But its a huge mental barrier to push through it, and I'm still at the point that pretty much every run for me is hard. Because I choose to make it so. Because I choose to push myself and give that willpower a workout along with my muscles.
You can do it, there is not a shadow of doubt in my mind that youi van. And when younat last cross that finish line, you will go "fuck yeah, I'm a badass" and that feeling will be worth every sweat and tear yoiu shed along the way.

Pick a race. Commit. Go the god damn distance. Get a partner if you'd like, I find it motivating to run with a group, even if I'm solid back of the pack runner. But get that fire in your belly going, because I think you aren't getting started here. 5k's are cool, but so are 10k's. And marathons. And mud runs. And relays. And shit you not, running distances, 5 miles and up, is probably the best way I know to burn fat, even at slow paces. The rewards are everywhere in running.

Oh and take all this shit with a huge grain of salt as the last person I talked ito going for C25k is currently nursing a stress fracture on her tibia.... But you are already athletic so I'm sure you'll be fine :)

Try "Bottlemania: How water went on sale and why we bought it" by Elizabeth Royte. Same theme as "Bottled and Sold," perhaps without the errors. (Naturally, I borrowed it from one of our local libraries.)

I'm with you all the way - for a fiction you can more easily forgive little slips, but in a "documentary" kind of book - it's fatal.
With more and more books released straight to kindles and other e-readers, I think we will see solid editing take an even bigger hit :(
