Franklin Time
As I sit here on a Sunday morning with a 17-lb cat warming my lap, I wonder about his sense of time. When I’ve been away a long time, does he truly understand that? How does his circadian rhythm, his sense of days and time, work?
Sunday Update
Random thoughts … The “problem child” (aka Franklin) appears to be 100% healthy – at least physically. The tests that the vet ran came back normal. So that was a relief – then it was on to figuring out what’s going on in that little head of his. I wanted to try some amateur psychology … Continue reading
The Problem Child
Just before Franklin’s annual checkup in early October, he behaved a little oddly. He started biting on my hand while I was lying in bed one morning. The usual “NO” and withdrawal of my hand didn’t stop him. He tried again, and when I got up and went into the bathroom, he followed me in … Continue reading
Happy 3rd, Franklin!
This weekend marks a year since Daisy passed away. I was reflecting on just how much of Franklin’s personality has come out since then. Though I was sad to lose Daisy, it’s almost as if he’s decided his personality needs to be twice as big to make up for it. After wondering for a bit … Continue reading
Beyond Belize
The rest of the trip was relatively uneventful – I did wind up getting three more jumps in on Sunday, culminating in a sunset load that turned out (with clouds and wind rolling in on Monday) to be the last load of the boogie. The Otter did a spectacular fly-by of the landing area, and … Continue reading
The Last Decade
Yeah, yeah, I know everyone else is doing it, but I’m home, sick, and bored on New Year’s Day and it’s a new decade, so let’s look back at the last.
Breathe In, Breathe Out
By next Thursday I will have made three round trips to Southern California in just over a week. Our trip to Elsinore has been planned for a while (Sean’s going for the entire week for the wingsuit bigway event, I’m popping down just for the weekend). The work trips to Burbank (two days this week, … Continue reading
Out of Balance
I realize I haven’t blogged in a while, and I think today I diagnosed something of the malaise I’ve been feeling – I feel like right now my life is a little out of balance. Some of it is good, some bad, some just neutral, but things aren’t humming along like they had been and … Continue reading
Lazy Sundays
I’m writing this post from my couch, having just woken up from a nap, watching Sean nap on the other side of the couch and Franklin nap on his usual perch above the center cushion (one of the many advantages of having a huge sectional!) Yes, the entire household is in the throes of a … Continue reading
Franklin Finds His Voice?
It’s been a week without Daisy now, and I’m finally to the point where I don’t look for her when I come into my home office. Her favorite spot used to be on my office chair or in the window near the desk.
