A Full Day of Laziness

Posted by on July 25, 2009

Since we’re looking at four out-of-town skydiving trips* in the next five weekends, and since I’ve been at the dropzone or otherwise away from home for the last four weekends, it seemed like a good weekend to rest both my body and my budget and do … well, pretty much nothing.

I didn’t set an alarm but still got out of bed by about 6:45.  By 7:30 I was traipsing around Lake Merritt, mixing a walk with interval training … climbing the steps of the Cleveland Cascade two at a time, jumpng up shorter staircases, doing pushups on benches, lunges, squats, reverse crunches, etc.  I ended the walk near the playground near my house and since it was still fairly early and chilly, the playground was empty.  This gave me a perfect opportunity to play on the swings!  Too fun.

The rest of my day has been spent at home – catching up on stuff, reading (I’m working on The Lost City of Z, which is both interesting and slightly unsettling!), taking a nap (just because I could!), cleaning house, organizing, etc.  Now, I’m about to settle into the couch and watch DVDs for a while.

*Next Wed-Sunday – Lost Prairie
August 8-9 – Leap for Lupus (Skydive Kapowsin)
August 14-16 – Casa Boogie at Skydive Pepperell (near Boston)
August 29-30 – All of the Above Boogie (Skydive Oregon)

Interesting book. Try “River of Doubt” (mentioned in “Lost City of Z”) should you want more adventures in the Amazon.
