How Does My Garden Grow?

Quite well, actually. Well, the mesculun mix was a bit of a dud - pretty fragile and I didn’t pay it enough attention so it’s kind of over before it began. But the red leaf lettuce is delicious and thriving, and the tomatoes (which got staked today) are well on their way. The herbs are plentiful and add a great flavor to salads. The new addition (picked up today when I got the stakes) is a sweet pepper.

We do clean up nice, don’t we?

Last weekend was our friends Laura & John’s wedding in Tennessee, so we got up at the ass-crack of dawn on Friday to head down to Oakland airport to fly out.  Flights to Nashville were largely uneventful and mostly on-time, so we were able to make the drive from there to Knoxville in time to meet friends for dinner.  Thanks to an overly-generous pair of bartenders who comped us a lot of drinks, we had even more fun at the restaurant’s bar afterward (it was adjacent to our hotel so no one had to drive). Bad News, Good News? Not Sure, really.

I had a great day of skydiving out at Skydance on Saturday - I did four 8-way jumps with a good group of folks.  Unfortunately, my landings weren’t going so well and I couldn’t quite figure out why.  My depth perception was off, and for a while I thought it was solely due to the fact that for two of the first three jumps I was landing in grass that was 2-3 feet high and was choosing my flare point for the top of the grass. But finally, on the last jump, I realized that my new full-face helmet’s visor was causing just enough distortion to screw up my (already-not great) depth perception. (more…)

Too Long No Blog

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I feel like I don’t have all that much to blog about … work, work out, skydive, repeat.  But I guess part of the reason I haven’t blogged is that I’ve been super-busy lately.  Good busy, but busy nonetheless.  New project at work is making the days busy, and new things in the evenings keep me hopping.
