Interesting that my last post was about energy. On Friday, I was feeling pretty good. After a crazy week, I was ready for the weekend. I’d had a great workout with Noah in the morning, and was being productive and getting stuff done at the office. I ate lunch in two stages – at about 11:30 some leftover corn soup that I’d opened the night before, and at around 1:30 I threw a bag of frozen veggies (peas & pearl onions) in the microwave and finished that up.
Not much more than half an hour later I found myself on the floor of the bathroom, praising the porcelain god and in excruciating pain. My insides felt like they were turning outside. After several rounds of throwing up, I found an empty conference room and tried to lie down on the floor to feel better. To no avail and I was back in the bathroom before too long. The pain seemed to be intensifying, not dissipating, as I emptied my stomach. After about 30 minutes of feeling horrible I finally gave up and asked a coworker to dial 911.
As it happened, by the time I was rolled out into the ambulance things were starting to fade a bit and my pain was a lot less. Still, the EMTs took me up to the ER, which was (of course) incredibly crowded. Fortunately, the ER let me go over to urgent care since my symptoms had subsided. After about an hour and a half wait at urgent care, I finally saw a doctor who … really didn’t provide much information. She gave me a quick exam and had me eat some crackers and said if I could keep those down I could go.
Gradually felt better and started eating more over the course of the weekend. I had trouble sleeping Friday night, and yesterday I felt “off” most of the day. Last night’s sleep was much more solid and after sleeping in till 8:30, I was able to hit the office for a few hours to catch up on the work I didn’t finish on Friday, and then to the gym for a quick workout. Didn’t have a huge amount of stamina but it was nice to at least do something this weekend.
