I feel like there’s been a lot going on lately, but really, it’s just life moving on and moving forward. The weekend ended up being pretty mellow – errands and time hanging out with Sean, lots of reading, taxes, all kinds of fun stuff. Taxes turned out in my favor this year – I’d hoped that I had adjusted my withholding so I wouldn’t owe, nor would I get a refund. Unfortunately, my long period of unemployment kind of messed that up, so I am getting a sizeable refund. Not that I’m complaining one bit about getting an infusion of cash, but I don’t so much like giving the government an interest-free loan.
Speaking of things that affect my taxes – knock wood – it looks like my house will sell. It’s moving towards a closing date of 2/27 and I’m quite hopeful that will work out as planned. Of course, things can still fall apart in the next 2 1/2 weeks, but we got past the inspection this weekend, so I’m cautiously optimistic that I’ll have that financial burden out from under me sooner than later.
I’m taking advantage of the long weekend and my large balance of frequent flyer miles to go visit Betsy & Eric in New York next weekend. I haven’t seen them in almost two years, so it’ll be great to catch up and meet their son Alex, who’s already 19 months old.
Personal training is going incredibly well – I can see and feel significant improvements already, even after only 7 sessions. I’m wondering why I didn’t do this sooner. Okay, it’s expensive, but I’m considering it an investment in myself and my future.
