Much Too Much Going On
The end of last week had me shaking my head and thinking “Wow. Would not have expected all that this week brought me.” Of course, Tuesday was Daisy’s diagnosis of a chronic illness, Tuesday and Thursday were decidedly different workout sessions from last week (different in that my performance was better and my recovery shorter, yay!), and Friday brought news of some big changes at work that have my job being changed around quite a bit.
I’d known for a while that our project was at risk of being on the chopping block, but I had been assured that my job was secure. Still, there had been many valiant attempts over the last few weeks to keep the project on track and I had thought perhaps nothing would change. But, as of Friday, it was announced that funding has been cut, probably till near the end of the year. And, rather than just put me on another project, management is considering having me take on a new job role that’s not as project-focused. I’m still learning about and figuring out what it all means, but it seems like a good thing. Of course, in these tough economic times, continuing to be employed is a good thing!
At any rate, I definitely needed our trip to Elsinore to clear my head. More on that in another post.
Back to Daisy - before we left on Friday night, I attempted to give her fluids, with Sean’s assistance - and failed miserably. So, first thing this morning I made another appointment to get a demo from one of the vet techs. Sean came with me this time so he could see it firsthand. Things went much better this time, and hopefully I’ll be successful on Wednesday night. I will go back a week from Wednesday to get her tested again to see how she’s responding to the treatments.
