Things I Miss About Seattle

Posted by on December 16, 2008

Oh, I’m not sitting around pining away – I’m happy with the move and really enjoying getting to know my new city and new neighborhood.  But there are moments when I miss things – and that’s natural, since I lived there for the better part of 11 years, and it’s the first place I actively *chose* to live as an adult.  My first love, y’know?  The list, after the jump.

  • My friends, of course.
  • Than Brothers
  • My dentist (the less said the better about my first dentist visit here in Oakland; I’m trying again on Friday and hoping this one will be better.  Updated to say that my second dentist attempt was indeed much improved and I now have a new dentist I’m happy with).
  • KEXP (though I can at least listen to that online)
  • My house and my wonderful neighbors (not that my neighbors here aren’t perfectly nice, but mine in Seattle had become friends, too).
  • Ballard Market
  • Skydiving with incredible mountain views (but I’m not really missing the weather, of course that might be because it’s been very Seattle-esque here lately!)
  • Wild Mountain Cafe (though Sean and I did just try the fantastic Lynn and Lu’s in my neighborhood this past weekend.  It reminds me more of Dish than Wild Mountain, though.)
  • Wine Wednesday (though I had to be in the mood for it, it was nice to have an (almost) weekly standby of good friends and good times as an option).

I’m sure I’ll think of more stuff to add to this list, but at the same time I’ll be finding more things to add to my “things I love in the Bay Area” list, too.  Hopefully it’ll stay in the right balance.
