November Holidays

I had to head down to Pasadena for a couple of days this week but was fortunately able to come home on Tuesday night and avoid the worst travel day of the year (the day before Thanksgiving).   Since my travel could have been distrupted, Sean planned my “official” birthday dinner for Wednesday night, but still took me out to Spettro on Tuesday night as well.  We hadn’t been there since my very first visit to Oakland - on what could be considered our first “real” date.  So it was nice to revisit there, especially since it’s so close to my apartment.

Wednesday night, Sean wouldn’t tell me where we were going, just that it was “in the city.”  As we parked and were walking towards the restaurant, I thought “this feels familiar.”  Sure enough, as soon as we walked in to Destino, I remembered it was where we’d gone for Sean’s birthday in 2006.  He’d completely forgotten that, though!  We had another tasty meal.

By Thursday the idea of eating out wasn’t really appealing, and since we hadn’t made any other Thanksgiving plans, we just … ignored it and had a great day anyway.  I whipped up a big pan of creme brulee oatmeal (with bananas and strawberries added for extra yum) for breakfast, and we cobbled together lunch and dinner from things I had around.  In the afternoon we went down to the Grand Lake Theater and saw Quantum of Solace (which was enjoyable but not as good as Casino Royale).

Today was pretty much a “hang out and be lazy” day.  It’s been nice to have this “bonus weekend” so I can go jump the rest of the weekend … going back to work on Monday’s going to be hard!
